I stopped listening to my father when I was 8 years old, I never listen to a word he says.

This is the guy... I had a brain aneurysm, and I had to use a cane. On days when it was snowing I had to use that cane to walk to school and back, and he would refuse to give me a ride because he said that he didn't have any gas in his car


This is the guy when I was six years old called me and told me that my mother is a prostitute and she doesn't love me


This is the guy... Who took me and my elder brother to a "CHURCH"... to worship Jesus Christ when I was eight years old, because the lady at the church was helping him pay the house bills


This is the guy... who has been smoking heavy cigarettes for 98% of his life, it's just now that he stopped because he had an illness and went to the hospital and the doctor told him to stop doing it, so he stopped


So when Allah told you not to do it you did not obey, but when a doctor told you to stop you immediately obeyed


This is the guy... who has been telling me that I'm going to be a failure in life and smoke weed and go to jail ever since I was six...


So ever since I was like six or seven he has been cursing me and saying that I'm going to be a pothead and go to jail and die


Now that I've grown to be a pothead he tries to warn me to stop smoking 😕


This is the guy... who beat a seven year old child, me, slapped me across my face until my nose started bleeding, why did he do this? "Because I missed the bus to go to school on the first day


This is the guy... who saw me praying. He kicked my praying mat, called me a "fake Muslim" and kicked me out of his house


This is the guy... after I had my brain injury and I was living with him and his wife Salamatu, every time that she cooked he would take the sauce and put it in his room because he did not want me to eat, he wanted me to die


My own father... did not want me to eat, and he wanted me to die!


Sooo... obviously me listening to him and obeying would mean that I'm stupid and ignorant and have no sense


Because OBVIOUSLY, Allah has already showed me that my father is not one to be obeyed


Because he has no sense, and me obeying him would mean that I have no sense also


Yes, Allah does say respect and obey your parents

So if you take me to a Church, to worship "Jesus Christ" when I'm seven or eight years old, and I'm not old enough to judge truth from falsehood, is that not "asking your child to worship other than Allah?"


He saw me praying Asr and he kicked the praying mat and made me stop praying and called me a fake Muslim and kicked me out of his house... in the rain!


So no, I don't listen to my father, I don't obey him in anything that he tells me to do, because he has already showed me that he doesn't have any sense and he doesn't know the right thing to do


He's not somebody to be obeyed or listened to


He's somebody to be prayed for, he's somebody to constantly make Du'a for


May Allah guide him, may Allah help him


I didn't like what he did today at all


It was snowing today, I was walking home from school


While I was walking home in the heavy snow he calls me up and he asks me where I'm at. So I tell him, because I'm thinking that he wants to come pick me up


Five minutes later he doesn't show up so I call him on the phone and ask him where he's at. He tells me: "I'm home"


So I start walking home again and he calls me up again and tells me "I'm coming to pick you up"


So fifteen minutes later, he calls me up again, and tells me to start walking home because they have blocked all the roads and he can't get to me


So I start walking home again...


Then he calls me up again and starts yelling talking bout some "WHERE ARE YOU AT U BASTARD!!"

Respect your parents, love them, obey them


But as soon as they show you that they don't have any sense or care about the sacred limits of Allah then obey them not! But still respect them and treat them kindly in the world


I love my father, I wish the best for him, I pray for him everyday, that he may be guided


My brother and sister have given up on my father, but not me... I will never give up on him!


When you bring a child into this world that is a very big responsibility. God is trusting you to take care of that child, help him, make sure that nothing bad happens to him or her


Allah will only give you parents that he knows are loving and will take care of you


Allah will only give you trustworthy, responsible, sensible parents


God will only allow you to be a mother or father if you have all of these characteristics


God had taken away the carnal abilities of my father and has prevented him from being a father to anyone else


This means that... God no longer trusts you. He doesn't want to give you that responsibility anymore.


He knows this, my father knows this, he's not stupid! My father is a lot of things but "stupid" is not one of them


He knows why all this is happening, but he just cannot sit down and think and advice himself "hmmmm... I should change my ways and bad habits"


But he can't, he doesn't know how


That's what happens when you grow into your bad ways


This is why it's important for one to start practicing Islam at an early age


Because if you start at an early age, by the time you grow up and become older all those bad habits and characteristics would be gone


Good intentions, bad decisions


But in his case, it's MANY bad decisions

Does it really make sense to go after these drug dealers that sell marijuana and lock them up?? For selling a drug that has never killed anybody and the only side effect is mild hunger or thirst?

The Qur’an is not just information. The Qur'an is something that should plant itself in our hearts

They got nothing, they did it because they loved Allah SWT, they did it because they cared about the vision


Those who make the effort for the sake of Allah SWT, are to be applauded and thanked


The person who does not thank the people does not thank Allah SWT


They do what they are supposed to do and they leave the rest to Allah SWT


Continuing to think about the next generation, continuing to think about what the next generation of Americans look like


We're not here just to get by, we are actually vested in shaping the future of this country

Pain and suffering only becomes negative if it creates a barrier between you and Allah SWT


Trials and tribulations are a means of purification


There is always someone who is in a worse predicament than you


Any individual that lives in the west is automatically in the 5% elite of the world

They live off $1 a day

When paper flourishes in Europe what happens? The rise of knowledge, the protestant reformation, the Renaissance


Europeans now have a surplus of paper


And when you have a surplus of a commodity what happens? You begin thinking what to do with it. How can we better utilize what we have in excess of


Yohanas Guttenberg is the inventor of the printing press


With the printing press what happens? You can mass produce books, and when you mass produce books what happens? You are teaching a generation of people knowledge


When Muslims first heard of the printing press they banned it. They prohibited it's importation into Muslim land


They said "this is something that the kuffaar have invented!"


"We didn't invent it so it can't be good"


Any printed book was banned


In the year 1515: "Anybody who was found with an Arabic book that is printed on a printing press shall be executed"


The punishment for owning a book that was printed on a printing press was death, why?

They wanted to live in a shell because they were so confident "our ways are the right ways"


It was enthusiasm that was misdirected

There was a sense of supreme power, there was a sense of arrogance


There was a fear of change, so what did the Muslims do? They banned it


In the meantime. Books are flourishing in the European lands


Not coincidentally, Martin Luther's reformation utilizes the printing press


He prints the Bible in German, for people to read


"The Earth is flat, the sun is going around the earth" and all of these changes that the Church had put on the people


Thinkers and scientist come along to challenge the church and the political structure


Galileo and Newton. Thinkers come along and challenge the church


What happens? The entire theocratic state, the entire dominion of the Church collapsed completely


Because education was too powerful, and ignorance is bound to lose over education


So Europe was forced to change, and the Church was forced to cut itself, and it became the protestant and Catholic branches of Christianity


Throughout the 1500's, 1600's, 1700's, and even the early 1800's printing presses were manufactured and transported and books were printed across the world, except for lands of Islam


The first person to bring a printing press to Egypt was Napoleon Bonaparte, when he invaded Egypt he brought a printing press and he put it in the Muslim land


It was forced upon the Muslims


So many changes came along and eventually the Muslims were forced to accept the printing press


The first printing press was around 1840, 1850, 1860 around the Muslim world


Why? Because we were too scared of modernity, and we thought that if we allowed the printing press in it's gonna corrupt the minds of our youth


But what happened? Eventually modernity was forced upon us


Because we were too scared to embrace it, and when that did happen it was too late


Within a few decades the Ottoman empire collapsed


Yes we are proud to be Muslims. But where in the Qur’an and Sunnah does it say to oppose modernity and change?


The reality is that the world will always change, and modernity will continue to be modernity


The reality is we're living in a fluid environment


You have to go with the flow. You're wearing your life jacket, you simply let yourself free and you control yourself along with the current, you let the current take you, but you simply try to force your way eventually to get to the shore

Praise be to Allaah. I think that this is a view for which there is no basis. Rather smoking is a kind of drinking; in Arabic they say that one “drinks” a cigarette. Moreover, there is no doubt that it reaches the stomach and the inside of the body, and everything that reaches the stomach and the inside of the body invalidates the fast, whether it is beneficial or harmful, even if a person were to swallow a bead from the masbahah, or a piece of iron, or anything else, it invalidates the fast. So it is not essential that the thing that invalidates the fast, or that is eaten or drunk, should be nourishing or beneficial. Everything that reaches the stomach is regarded as food or drink. They believe – indeed they know – that this is a kind of drink, and if anyone says this then he is being arrogant.


Moreover, I think that the month of Ramadaan is an opportunity for the one who is sincerely resolved and wants to give up this foul, harmful habit of smoking. I think that it is an opportunity because he is going to abstain from it throughout the day in Ramadaan, and at night he can distract himself from it by means of the food and drink that Allaah has permitted to him, and by frequenting the mosques and attending gatherings of righteous people, and he can keep away from those who have this habit. If he abstains from it throughout the month, then that will be a great help to him in giving it up for the rest of his life. This is an opportunity which smokers should not miss. End quote.

No change let there be in Khalqillah (i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not”

I want to be a real Muslim, and that is why I am asking this question: what reason is there for adhering to Islam? In other words, if I were living at the time of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and I heard him calling people to this religion, what would motivate me to believe his message and what he brought of the Qur’an and Sunnah? Moreover, I do not understand the Qur’anic challenge (interpretation of the meaning): “Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Qur’an) if they are truthful” [at-Toor 52:34]. What I understand is that if anyone writes a book on a particular topic, it will be like any other book on the same topic, even if it is different in some minor aspects. So what is so miraculous in the Qur’an? It may seem strange that such a question comes from a Muslim, but Allah knows best about my intention.

Praise be to Allah

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1358) and Muslim (2658).


The words “animals bring forth animals with their limbs intact” mean: just as an animal is born with its limbs intact and free of defects; anything that happens to it of cuts to its ears and so on happens after it is born.


Similarly, every human is born with an inherent inclination towards Islam, and any deviation from Islam is undoubtedly a departure from sound human nature. Therefore we never find anything in the teachings of Islam that is contrary to sound human nature. Rather all of its teachings on beliefs and practical matters are in accordance with sound human nature. As for religions and ideologies other than Islam, they include things that are contrary to sound human nature. This is something that is quite clear and apparent to anyone who reflects and ponders.


2. Rational evidence


There are many Islamic texts that address reason and direct people to examine the rational proof and evidence, and call upon people of sound reasoning and mature thinking to examine the definitive evidence for the soundness of Islam.


Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):


“(This is) a Book (the Qur’an) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember”


[Saad 38:29].

22- the Angels of Allah, including Jibreel and the ones carrying the Throne


25- the Awliya of human kind


55 and 33 are brothers because all of the Prophets of Allah are like brothers, from the same father but different mothers
