The way she stood there by the doorway. Her long white hair stretched down to her shoulder blades. The concerned look on her face. My old college basketball jersey she had on stretched down to her kneecaps. Her face... her countenance. So beautiful as she stood there by the doorway. I can’t believe I kept her waiting. Too long, just too long. Suddenly, I forgot everything that I was going to say to her. Everything was lost and forgotten, only she remained. Her face... so beautiful.

I didn’t know what to say or do as I stood there. My mouth half opened, I stared without blinking. I walked slowly and stood in front of her. I wanted to kiss her, I wanted to hug her. I wanted to... Her face, so beautiful. I delved my hand in my pants pocket and pulled out the all white case that I bought from Jared’s. I opened it. Inside of it was an all black diamond wedding ring. Very suiting. Black diamond, for a black queen.

When she looked down and saw it her face changed expression completely. She was in awe. She lifted her hand up to cover her gasp. A single tear streamed down her cheek, then another one. I wanted to wipe the tears away, but I couldn’t stop staring at her face. I took her right hand from over her mouth and put it against my cheek. Then I took the black diamond ring and covered it around her tiny ring finger. Another tear streamed down her cheek, this time I took my index finger and subtly wiped the tear away.

Too long.” I said softly.

And you’ve waited. You’ve been there with me through it all.”

More tears fell down her cheek.

But you wait... No more!” I said.

Another tear. I put my lips on her cheek and kissed the salty droplet of tear. I then kissed her forehead, and kissed her ring finger. Then I looked deep in her eye and planted my lips against hers.
