Christy drew back and began to laugh. “AH! NO IT DON’T!” She bellowed as she took another bite of her pretzel.

I sat down on the chair rightfully and began to slowly pick up the bits of chips on the table and eat it. Then I opened up the other bag as the chips on the table began to lessen. Me and Christy was not talking or saying anything for a while as we were eating. I started to think what can I do or say to break the awkward silence. Then a thought quickly came to my head. I lifted my head up and began to stare at Christy for a few seconds. As her head was down she began to notice me staring and slowly lifted her head up. “Is there a problem sir?” She said while shaking her head with a dumbfounded look on her face.

“I just wanna know, why you so ugly?” I asked.

There was a short pause as we stared at each other.“I don’t know” she said, “I don’t think I’m ugly, I’ve always been told otherwise.” She said.

“What have you been told exactly”?

Christy looked at me and smiled deviously then she said as she took another bite of her pretzel. “You know.”

I stared at her vaguely with my eyes dim. “Mhmm... And what exactly do I know?” I said.

“Boy don’t play dumb, you know.”

“I know nothing, I am just a simple African man.” I said in my father’s funny Liberian accent. Christy bellowed out a laugh.

“What do I know though forreal?” I asked her.

Christy kept her head down as she started to break the pretzel in tiny pieces, she didn’t say nothing or reply to my question, she simply just kept her head down and faintly smiled.

“WHAT DO I KNOW WOMAN!?” I shouted to Christy, I was pretending to be really angry for the fact she wasn’t answering my question, though I really wasn’t, I had nerves of steel.

“Boy hush!” Christy said as she took a tiny piece of pretzel and stuffed it in my mouth. Then she took another one and stuffed it in my mouth as well. She continued to do this until my entire mouth was filled with soft salty pretzel. I could not even say a word, I looked ridiculous. Christy stared at me and began to smile while she chuckled.

Then she took one piece of pretzel from my mouth and put it in hers. “Boy you know I’m cute and you love me.”
