Chapter 2

“I’m not impressed bul.” Christy said to me with a straight face. She was letting me know that she had not been a slight bit impressed with my rap, I could tell she was lying though because she smirked a bit and laughed when she said that. Christy had a soft dull voice, though a bit terrified her voice sounded. Similar to a petrified small child.

“You gon battle me?” I said to Christy as I opened my arms out wide as if I was challenging her to a fight. She laughed dully and covered her mouth with her palm.

“Chill you not ready.” Christy said in between her laugh.

I laughed at her statement. Then I said “Sike naw but you gon hop on my next song though?” I was asking Christy if she was going to be featured on my next music recording.

She abruptly laughed then covered her mouth with her balled up fist again.

“What’s that jawn gon be called?” She was asking me what the name of the song going to be that she was going to be featured on.

“It’s gon be called “summer eyes”.” I said to Christy.

“Why that name though”? Christy asked.

“Because you have the most beautiful summer eyes that I have ever seen”. I said to Christy as I looked deep into her eyes.

Christy starred at me back with starry eyes. “Awwww! You are so cute.” Christy said as she rubbed my head with her right palm. We both laughed.

I drew a little bit closer to her and sat in the chair right next to her. I looked at her lunch, she was eating a tuna sandwich. Well… perhaps she was in the process of eating it, her sandwich didn’t even look like it had been touched.

“Why you not eating?” I abruptly asked Christy. “This jawn all half eaten and whatnot.”

Christy laughed out loud, I could finally see her teeth, they were all perfectly aligned and white as if she brushes it twice every time she went home.

“Omg I hate tuna, I don’t know why my mom be wasting her time making it for me, I don’t ever eat it.” Said Christy.

“You tripping, tuna be popping.” I quickly took one of her sandwiches and bit deeply into it.

She smiled and gave me a gentle push on the arm. “Bye boy!” Christy said.

I took another bite of the sandwich while I was acting like I was being pushed back from the gentle push she gave me.

“Sike naw.” I said while half laughing. “What you gon eat though? You gotta eat something and class bout to start back up soon.” I said to Christy with a concerned tone in my voice.

“I don’t know boy you gon cook me something?” Christy was asking me if I was going to cook her something. There were two things wrong with that statement. One, we were in school and it was not permitted for students to cook, and two, I was already dark-skinned enough, after I burn down the school all that fire damn sure won’t make me lighter.

“I got you, what you want?” I asked Christy. Though I wasn’t really going to cook for her.

“Surprise me.” Christy then told me. I was very stunned by her response. I gave her a faint smile and immediately thought of a response.

“How about I cook you up something dark and large in quantity?” I asked Christy as I starred at her with a bright face.

            “Works for me.” Said Christy.

I immediately rolled up my shirt sleeve and made a muscle to show it to Christy. She covered her mouth with her hand and again burst out laughing.

“You want some of this baby?” I said while flexing my muscle, and I said it with a Russian accent as to imitate Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Christy immediately started laughing and covered her mouth with her hand.

“OMG I HATE YOU!” She imminently said in between her laughter.
