"Jason was closer to me than all of you!"

The prayer was lengthy. Abdul read a total of six "juz". A juz' is a part of the Qur'an. The Qur'an is compiled into a total of 30 juz'.

Even though it was a nafl/superogatory Salah Abdul acted as if it was fard/obligatory. The opening "takbeer" is 'Allahu Akbar'/Allah is the greatest. None is greater than Him. This means that Allah prevails over all, for He is the Creator. Everything else besides Him is a creation and does not come close to His Greatness. "Sleep" is a creation. His wife Shay was asleep. Abdul said his Salah with a soft recitation for he did not want to disturb Shay and wake her out of her sleep.

Why did he do this? Because The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Salam used to perform his Salah with a soft recitation when his wife Khadija bint/daughter of Khuwaylid was sleeping. He tried to emulate and mimick everything he used to do. For he is the best of the creations, and the most loved by Allah/God.

After the prayer commenced and he said the closing tasleem/As Sallamu Alaykum. Abdul stood up from Tashahhud/crouched or sitting position. Abdul walked over to the bed where Shay was sleeping. He slapped her backside to wake her out of her sleep. Her eyes fluttered open.

"Where the weed at?" Abdul said.

Shay reached across the bed to get her handbag. She foraged in the side pocket and handed Abdul the bag of weed.

Abdul took it and sat on the bed to put his shoes on.

     "Where you going?" Asked Shay.

"Go back to sleep." Abdul said as he stood up and walked out the bedroom door.

He closed the door behind him gently and began to walk down the stairwell. Tabitha was sitting on the living room couch. Her eyes were closed and she was staring up at the ceiling. A wide smile was on her face.

Abdul walked over to the couch where she was at and rested his arms on top.

"May Allah forgive you for all your sins mommy and grant you a noble entrance into Jannah Tul Firdos Insha'llah." Abdul said.

Tabitha opened her eyes and looked up at him, she nodded her head.

     "Say AAMEN." Abdul said.

     "AAMEN." Tabitha responded.

Abdul turned around and started walking towards the front door.

"Will you be attending school today?" Tabitha asked.

Abdul stopped and turned his entire body around.

"No mother. Me and Shekira will not be going today."

Tabitha wanted to ask him why but something told her not to.

"Do you want me to make you breakfast?" She asked instead.

"It's okay mommy, I'm not very hungry. But will you please prepare something for Shekira. She is still asleep I believe." Abdul said.

Tabitha nodded her head.

"Thanks mommy." Abdul said and turned around to walk out the door.

"I shall return back in about a hour or two." Abdul said as he walked out and gently closed the door behind him.

Abdul wanted to catch the bus but he decided not to. The weather was temperate outside so he chose to just walk. He was going to go to the train tracks to smoke.

When he arrived there it was vacant, just like he had expected. The only sound that was audible was the chirping of the birds and the distant train that just left.

Abdul sat calmly down on the bench and looked up at the sky.

"Allah is the All Seer." He said to himself.

Abdul then delved his hands in his pocket and pulled out the bag of weed and a blunt wrap. He began to roll.

When he was finished he took out a black Bic lighter from his back pocket. He sparked up the blunt. He could hear the remote sound of an upcoming train.

About 30 minutes had gone by. The blunt was almost finished. He was definitely up there. Abdul decided to throw it off to the side and roll up another one.

As he was about to go in his pocket and pull out the bag of weed he heard a familiar voice call him from the distance.

     "YOOO DUUULL!!!"

As he looked closer, Jason's face appeared. He was running towards him and treaded down the steps.

He approached him and was panting heavily.

"Wtf Jason! You good?" Abdul said.

"Yoo DuL!" He said in between breaths.

"What are you doing here?" Abdul asked.

"I've been looking everywhere for you!" Jason said in between breaths.

Abdul said nothing. Jason then sat down on the bench next to him.

"DuL! This is about making money. Don't you wanna be rich?" Jason asked.

     "Allah is Mughnee." Abdul replied.

"Yes. I understand that. But nggas is broke DuL. I don't even know how I'ma pay my phone bill next month." Said Jason.

Abdul looked at his friend.

     "Allah is Wahaab." He said.

Jason shook his head.

"I understand that DuL. But I'm saying. You're a superhero. You can be rich if..."

Abdul cut him off. "Jason! I already told you, that's not me! This is something that really bothers me! You fail to understand." Abdul then stood up.

"DuL! I'm doing this for you!" Jason said.

"I do not want it. And I do not wish to discuss this topic further." Abdul said and began walking away.

"THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE DUL!" Jason bellowed to Abdul as he walked away.

"Allah is the All-Seer and All-Hearer." Abdul said under his breath as he climbed up the steps.

When he was sure that he was far away from the train tracks Abdul held out his hands to supplicate.

"Ya Allah. Verily, You are One and You are All-Knowing. Jason is persistent upon this and I've already told him multiple times how much this bothers me. He doesn't know, but You certainly do."

After he was finished, he put his hands down and pulled out the bag of weed in his back pocket to roll up. Abdul smoked as he walked back towards Shay's house.

The door was already unlocked. Abdul entered. Shay was seated on the couch eating a bowl of grits.

     "Hey!" Shay said.

Abdul did not reply. He walked up the steps and into Shay's room. He took off his shoes and laid down on the bed with his back down and chest up. He held out the palm of his hands again.

"Allaah is Muqsit(Utterly Just)." He said.

Abdul then put his hands down and turned over to lay on his right hand side.

"Allah is the Knower of all and He is the Most Compassionate." Abdul said under his breath.

He then closed his eyes and began to do Dhikr(remember Allah).

A few minutes later Shay opened the door and walked in.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked softly.

Abdul kept his eyes closed and did not reply. Shay laid down on the bed next to him.

"Why aren't you talking to me?" She asked.

"La Hawla Wala Quata Illa Billah." He said.

     "Huh? Abdul..." Shay said.

"Nothing is the matter. I love you okay? I'm not ignoring you." Abdul said.

"Then why aren't you talking to me?" Shay asked.

"I only complain to my Lord because He is The Knower of All." Abdul said.

"I'm your wife." Shay softly said.

"Allah is Lateef/Most Gentle." Abdul responded.

Shay said nothing. She continued to lay down on the bed with him and hugged his back.
