"HAPPY VOICES"

Page 110

Shay was seated on one of the benches outside of the office. Her hair was wet and her face  illuminated.

"Did you find Nouman?" She asked Abdul as he approached her.

"Uh... no. He's not here right now."

"Huh? Well where's he at?" Shay asked.

There was a long pause as Abdul closed his eyes and stared into the darkness.

"Insha'llah..." He quietly said under his breath.

     "Huh?" Shay asked.

"Come!" Abdul held his hand out towards her.

"Let's go offer the two rak'ahs and we have to leave and go back to the house." Abdul said.

"Why? We just got here." Shay retorted.

Abdul forcefully took her hand and stood her up. Then they walked inside the Musa'llah(place for prayer).

Abdul walked to the front of the Musa'llah with Shay and when they got into a stagnant position he got in front of her to lead the prayer.

"Mimick my movements and after I say 'Allahu'akbar!' you say the same thing."

Shay nodded her head. "Okay."
---------------------------------------------------
After the prayer commenced, Shay rose up from tashahuud but Abdul remained crouched.

He has his palms stretched out and was making "Istighfar"(Asking Allah for forgiveness)

"Astaghfirullah. Astaghfirullah. May Allah forgive me. La illa ha illa anta subhanaka inne kuntu mina zallimen." Abdul kept repeating to himself.

Seconds flew by, Abdul remained in tashahuud making Istighfar. Shay decided that she would just go wait for him on one of the benches outside the Musa'llah.

She sat down patiently on the brown bench and waited for her husband to come out. About ten minutes later Abdul walked out with a nonchalant pleasant look on his face.

"What's wrong? You okay?" Shay asked.

"Yes, I'm fine. Nouman is dead." Abdul said.

     "Huh?"

"Sorry for not keeping it all the way with you. It won't happen again."

"Um... Okay. How did he pass?"

"Doesn't matter. Is mother at work?" Abdul asked.

"Granny? No, she doesn't work." Shay replied.

     "How come?"

"Udhuan left behind a pension from his chain of clothing stores, Granny has been living off that for the past twenty years or so, that along with the inheritance."

"Wow! How much was the inheritance?" Abdul asked.

"I think it was like seven billion last I checked.

     "Wow. And the pension?"

"Those come weekly by mail. I think it's like $1,200."

"How long will the pension last?" Abdul asked.

"Until my 45th birthday." Shay said.

"Wow, that's insane. But please call mother and see if she can pick us up. We need to go home immediately." Abdul said.

Shay immediately delved her hand in her jeans pocket to draw out her iPhone.

"Okay... Why?" She said as she began to dial.

"We need to consummate our marriage." Abdul responded plainly.

Shay stopped dialing and looked up at him.

     "Are you serious?" She said.

     "Umm.. yeah." Abdul replied.

"I wish to speak to my Lord and draw close to Him. Your body is a vessel." Abdul said.

"What does that even mean? You only want to use me?" Shay said.

"No. Of course not. Your my wife. I'm begging you.

"No! Boy, I'm not just a tool you can use and dispose of."

Abdul got down on the floor and started hugging Shay's kneecaps.

"PLEAASSEE!! UR NOT A TOOL AND I WILL NEVER DISPOSE OF YOU! I NEED YOU!!!" Abdul bellowed as he hugged Shay's knees.

Shay erupted in laughter and began kicking her leg.

"OMG get off me boy!" She screamed as she kicked her legs.

Abdul refused to let go and continued to hold onto her leg like a small child holding onto their mother during a severe thunderstorm.

"You're crazy!" Shay said and began to laugh.

Her iPhone then began to ring in her pants pocket.

"That must be Granny returning my call." Shay said.

Abdul quickly let go of her legs and stood up as Shay went in her jeans pockets and drew her phone out.

     "Hello!" She said.

"Yeah, that was me Granny. Me and Abdul are at the Masjid. Will you be able to come pick us up please?" Shay said.

"Tell her I got shot with a AK-47 Rifle and I am unable to walk." Abdul said.

Shay snickered lightly, then she turned her back towards him.

"Okay. Yeah. I'll text you the address right now. Thanks a lot Granny." Shay said then hung up.

She then turned back to face Abdul.

"Is mother going to come pick us up? Did you tell her I got shot?" Abdul asked.

     "Yes. NOO!" Shay retorted.

     "Well why not?" Abdul asked.

"Because you didn't get shot ABDUL!"

"Yu uh! The Jinn shot me while we was racing Wallahi."

Shay sighed. "Whatever."

"Can we please stop at Mickey D's to get a chicken patty sandwich?"

     "I'll think about it."

"I'll suck your cock." Abdul said while looking at her dead in the eyes.

"Eew. I don't have one." Said Shay.

"Yes you do. I saw your bulging erection whilst we was making love the other day."

Shay laughed out loud. "No you didn't!"

"I have no reason to lie to you shorty, and I don't judge. Just know, I don't roll like that. If you ever try to stick a dildo up my ass I'ma punch you in the face. Ya hear me?"

Shay yelped in laughter, a huge smile appeared on her face.

     "Why would you do that?"

"I just told you, because you tried to stick a dildo up my ass."

"But I didn't do that though." Shay exclaimed.

"I know you didn't do that yet, but I'm just telling you for future purposes."

"You're gonna punch me in the face Abdul?" Shay asked.

"I'm gonna punch you so hard. Your nose is gonna bleed and you're gonna be comatose for a decade." Abdul said.

"I don't think you would do that. You wouldn't hurt a fly." Shay said.

Abdul thought for a minute. Then a thought brushed across his head.

"You're right, I wouldn't. Not even if that fly steals something from me. Because I have no power. All power belongs to Allah alone."(22:73)

There was a short pause.

     "Umm... Okay." Shay said.

Abdul grinned lightly and sat down on the bench next to his wife. He placed his hand on her thigh and looked deep into her eyes.

"I want you to know that I'm very fond of you and I truly love you deeply."

"Mhmm you sure you don't just love my body?"

"No, of course not. You're my Muslim wife. Though I do love being sexually intimate with you but that's not what it's all about. It's your energy foreal shorty. I feel like I can talk to you about anything." Abdul said.

     "Awwww!" Shay blushed.

"So are u going to give me your body tonight so I can draw closer to my Lord?" Asked Abdul.

"NO! We can just lay down and talk. It's not all about sex remember?"

Abdul removed his hand from her thigh.

     "You're absolutely right!"

"I'm not going to have any type of sexual intercourse with you for two consecutive months. This will be my kaffara." Abdul said.

     "What's a kaffara?" Shay asked.

     "Expiation."

     "For?"

"Being a murderer. I'm going to kill that kitty tonight." Abdul said.

     "No, you're not!" Shay remarked.
-------------------------------------------------
Tabitha pulled up in a crimson red 1978 Volkswagen GTI.

"I thought she would have a better car than that." Abdul mentioned to Shay as Tabitha was pulling up.

"It belonged to Udhuan. At that time him and Granny didn't have much money. They used that car on their wedding day. She's kept it ever since for sentimental reasons."

"Why doesn't she just give it to you?" Asked Abdul.

"I don't want that junk!" Shay exclaimed.

Tabitha parked in front of Abdul and Shay as they stood in front of the Masjid. She removed her seat belt and calmly stepped out the vehicle. Shay and Abdul began to walk towards her.

"How did you guys get here?" Tabitha asked.

"We took the bus!" Abdul immediately interjected and said. He didn't want Tabitha to know that they got in a race and he lost.

Both Shay and Abdul were seated at the backseat. Tabitha got in and they drove off.
