Chapter 8

The Prologue

You sure you wanna go?” Shay asked.

Abdul didn’t reply, he just nodded his head with a despondent look registered on his face.

What’s wrong?” She asked.

Shay couldn’t help but feel responsible for the way that he was feeling. She still didn’t quite understand why he was so sad and the way that he was feeling.

It was just a quick fling, nothing major. Every girl in the school wanted Abdul and she was the first to get him. But still, she needed proof, she needed those pictures. Shay gently placed her hand on Abdul’s shoulder and turned his head around so they were looking eye to eye.

Talk to me.” She said.

As Abdul stared into her green sensuous eyes, he couldn’t help but feel enamored. Then he became nostalgic and started feeling nothing but great remorse and regret. Jason was right. He told him that he was going to do it again and he did.

Who was to blame? Was it Shay, for seducing him to the point of no return? Or was it Jason for having introduced him to Shay in the first place?

That’s nonsensical, Abdul knew that he had to take responsibility for his own actions. No one could be blamed but him. He was the one who did it. Even though Shay and Jason initiated it, he was still to blame. All they did was put the thought in his heed, he was the one to carry it out.

Abdul finally realized that he’s no Angel, just a scared little boy. He sighed and looked away again.

I’m just... scared.” He said.

Scared for what?” Shay asked.

For... the future.”

Shay moved her hand up to his cheeks and rubbed his face lightly.

Aawwww... why does the future scare you?”

Abdul shrugged his shoulders and paused for a quick second.

Because of what happened today and yesterday between me and you, I know it’s bound to happen again, and again, and again... and so on and so forth. And you don’t want to marry me and...” He sniffled.

I just want to die.” He finally said.

Aaawww don’t say that Abdul. Why do you want to die?”

Because you don’t want me.” Abdul bowed his head and softly said.

OMG is this what this is all about? I do want you.”

But you don’t want it to be in wedlock.”

She sighed and placed her hand underneath her chin.

I’m just not ready for that yet Abdul.”

But that doesn’t mean that you have to tell yourself you want to die. There’s plenty of girls out there who....”

He cut her off. “But they’re not you. I only want you.”

Shay was exoticized by Abdul’s words. He was undoubtedly the most sweetest boy that she had ever met. Even though multiple times she had told him that she did not want to get married with him, he still persisted.

Abdul was the type of boy that could get any girl that he wanted. But he only desired and wanted her.

Why?” She asked.

Pardon?”

Why me? Why do you only want me?”

There was another slight pause as DuLi looked away.

Because Shay, idk what it is about you. But you’re special, I feel like we can connect and...”

But you don’t even know me. How can you connet with someone like me? We’re total opposites.” She said.

"Opposites do attract.” Abdul replied as he turned to face her.

Yeah but...” Shay began to say. She didn’t know how to finish.

He was right, he’d always been right. The truth had been revealed. Abdul was too good for her.

As much as she liked him she was just trying to protect him, from her. She was naggy, defiant, mean, disrespectful. She knew that she was too much for Abdul and if they were to be together then the end result wouldn’t be good.

She knew that Abdul deserved better, he was the perfect boy.

You wouldn’t feel the same way once you get to know me.”

I’m willing to take that risk.”

Abdul said and slouched back on the chair. “Look...”

I know you’re not the perfect girl, but I don’t care. I still like you. You’re perfect for me.” Abdul said.

He looked at Shay in the eyes for a long second. Shay couldn’t believe what she was hearing from him. Could he really be for real?

Out of all the girls in the world you only want...” She said.

Abdul nodded his head. “Precisely.”

He held her hands and squeezed. Then he slowly lifted her hand and placed it on his chest.

Do you feel that?” He asked. Referring to his heartbeat.

She nodded her head subtly.

It’s beating for you Shay. You complete me, I want you to know that. And I want you to know---”

Before Abdul could finish what he was saying Shay extended her head and kissed him. Abdul kissed back.

After about three minutes they both subtly drew their head back.

... that you have the most beautiful eyes in the world.”

Really?” Shay asked.

Yes, really. And I want you to have my daughter.”

Shay kissed him again.

Take me.” She said.

Where would you like to go?”

Anywhere. Let’s elope.”

Abdul gave a wide smile. He rubbed her cheek and kissed her fingers.

No, let’s do this the right way.”

He switched seats with her and got behind the wheel. Then he started the engine and sped off. As he was driving he debated in his head whether he should go to Jared’s or his bank to withdraw some money. He decided that he would just go to Jared’s.

Afterwards he went to the same Masjid in West Philly that Jason goes to. He led Shay inside and sat her down, then he went to the bathroom downstairs to take a full body shower.

When he was done he went back upstairs where Shay was seated at and they both went into the small office where Shaykh Gilles was at.

He got out the diamond ring that he purchased from Jared’s and wrapped it around her finger. Shaykh Gilles smiled as he watched. Then the marriage process commenced, about thirty minutes later the marriage contract was printed out.

Shaykh Gilles smiled as he watched. After the marriage contract was printed out Abdul held Shay’s hands and looked at his newly wedded wife in the eyes and wrapped his arms around her.

Omg!” Shay said while smiling and hugging Abdul back. Tears were in her eyes.

What did we just do?”

Thank you for completing me.” Abdul said, ignoring her question.

A few hours later when Shay was home she decided to call Christy on the phone.

Hello...” Christy’s voice came.
