Chapter 10

She said something again to me, but I was unable to hear her, as she was in the kitchen and I was in the living room. I then got up and started walking towards the kitchen to ask her to repeat what she said.

I got up and took a few feet and started walking towards her in the kitchen. She was standing over the sink washing a medium sized red pot and filling it up with water and a few plates and another medium sized black pot.

“What you say?” I asked her, as I stood at the entrance of the doorway with my arms extended.

The kitchen had a brown ceiling and walls with a certain type of black dots that was on it, and there was a black fridge that was to the right of the sink. The sink, where Christy was standing was directly to the left of the refrigerator. There was a black table that stretched out in the center of the kitchen. The table had four tall chairs that were next to it. On top of the table was a small basket filled with oranges, it had two oval shaped lights and a few kitchen knives that were placed on a knife rack. The kitchen was also brightly lit, there were two huge lights hanging from the ceiling, and there was also another small round light that was hanging from the top of the refrigerator to the left of the sink in which Christy was standing.

She continued to wash the pot as she turned her head to look at me.

“I just said sit tight, I’m gonna be finished cooking everything for you in 30 minutes. You can turn on the TV if you want.” Christy said to me as she turned off the tap water and began to put the medium sized pot on the stove. She used an electric stove in her kitchen, just like the one that I had at home. Wow, me and her have so much in common, I definitely made the right choice by choosing to marry her, I thought to myself. She slowly placed the small pot filled with water on top of the stove, being really careful not to drop it.

I quickly rushed over to her and grabbed the pot and put it on top of the stove.

I looked at her after I safely placed the pot on top of the stove for her.

You can just make the rice okay, you don’t have to make the fried chicken.” I said to her as I looked at her. I didn’t want to burden her with a lot of work to do, I was letting her know that if she wanted to she can only make the Spanish rice, she didn’t have to make the fried chicken that I had told her to make for me last night when I was on the phone with her.

She looked up at me and arched her left eyebrow, “You sure?” She asked me.

As we were both standing there in the kitchen it was then that I realized the extreme height difference that me and her had. She was really short… or maybe I was really tall, I couldn’t tell, I decided not to think about it.

“Yeah, it’s cool, I don’t want you to work too hard.” I told her.

She then placed her hands on her hips and looked up at me, “Jason, you’re not gonna work me too hard, well if you don’t want it I’m still gonna make it for myself, because I want some!” Christy said to me.

I could tell that she had made up her mind and I didn’t want to argue with her.

I shrugged my shoulders and began walking out of the kitchen and into the living room. There was something that I had to do, and I didn’t want to delay it any longer.

“Okay, suit yourself bae!” I said to her as I walked out the kitchen.

I then appeared in the living room again, I sat down on one of the chairs that were at the corner of the living room. I hurriedly reached in my pocket and pulled out my phone. I had to call my father immediately, even though I knew that he was probably going to be sleep right now, but I definitely knew that he was going to be home because that’s what he told me yesterday. I turned on my phone and went to my call log, then a notification screen appeared. “LOW BATTERY: PLEASE CHARGE PHONE!” I then looked up the notification panel of the screen on my phone to see my battery percentage. “3%...” Wow, just my luck, I thought to myself. I knew that it was going to die if I didn’t charge it soon. I would just have to call my father later. I pressed and held the power button on the phone, to turn it off. The “SAMSUNG” sign flashed on the screen as it completely turned off a few seconds later. I then got up from the chair in which I was seated and began to head towards the couch that was in the middle of the living room to get the charger from inside my book bag.

As I searched the inside of my book bag I was unable to feel my charger. I continued to ruffle through the inside of my bag, I knew I had placed it there earlier this morning when I left my house with Jerry. I then decided to capsize my entire bag and turn it over completely, so everything that was inside of it could fall out and I could see it. As everything fell out I saw the white charger laying there, idk why I wasn’t able to feel it. I quickly picked it up from the floor so that I could go charge my phone. As I lifted it I saw that there was something underneath it. I looked closer; it was the dime bag that I had grabbed from Joe earlier this morning.

A huge smile appeared on my face. I could also see the blunt wrap that was also laying on the floor with the rest of the other contents that I dumped from my bag.

I knew what I had to do; I knew what I was inevitably going to do. I then grabbed my book bag and looked in the side pocket, and then I pulled out a small white Bic lighter, I placed it in my pocket along with the dime bag and the blunt wrap.

I then picked up the white charger and went to the wall where the flat screen television was at, I looked on the side of the wall and saw an outlet, and I plugged the charger up to it. The phone then turned on and began to charge. I then felt inside my pockets to make sure that the dime bag and blunt wrap was still there. Afterwards I walked in the kitchen to where Christy was at.

“I’m finna go smoke.” I said to her calmly. She was bent over the stove placing a tray in the oven.

She then lifted her head up and stood up completely and turned and faced me.

“What you bouta go do?” She said to me. She was asking me to repeat what I said and tell her what I was about to go do.

“Finna go smoke, come with me.” I said to her. I was telling her that I was getting ready to go smoked and I wanted her to come with me.

She sighed deeply and walked up to me and stood in front of my face.

“Jason, are you serious? Now?” She said to me.

I looked at her as she stood in front of me. The top of her head reached to my belly button. I looked at her in her eyes and twisted my face.

“Umm… naw, next week!” I said to her.

Christy was asking me if I was going to smoke now, I thought that was a pretty dumb question to ask, so I gave her a dumb response.

Christy stood in front of me and folded her arms across her chest and gave me a certain type of look with her eyes, I don’t know what that look was or how to explain it, but I didn’t care.

“Is you coming or not!” I said to her angrily. I wanted to know if she was coming to smoke with me or not, I was not in the mood of putting up with her attitude.

Christy still had her hands folded on her chest as she continued to look at me.

“Boy, no, I am not coming with you!” She said to me.

I turned away from her and began walking out the kitchen.

“Okay, whatever, I’ll be back in like 20 minutes.” I said to her.

As I was beginning to leave the kitchen she called out to me.

“Wait…” She said. Christy then walked up to me.

“Jason, if you’re gonna smoke… just go to the basement and do it.” She said to me.

I looked at her directly in her eyes for a few seconds.

“Where that at?” I asked my new wife. I knew that Christy didn’t want me to leave to go out and smoke, so she told me to just go do it in her basement. I was asking her where her basement was located at.

She then hurriedly began to walk to a side door that was in the kitchen. I didn’t notice it when I first came in. The door was all white with a small golden doorknob that was on it. She opened up the door and turned on the step light in the basement.

“Right down here Jason…” She said to me.

I walked towards the door and held the door handle, and looked at her. She wasn’t smiling or looking up at me.

“Okay well, I’m finna blow this down right quick.” I said to my wife as I began to close the door and head down the stairs. I was telling her that I was about to go down and smoke.

“What you bouta do?” I asked Christy, before I closed the door.

She didn’t look at me, she was still frowning.

Christy then gave a deep sigh and closed the basement door on me as I began to descend down the stairs.

Christy just wanted for Jason to go down the basement and smoke and just get it over with. How can he do something like that on the day that she agreed to be his wife? She did not like the fact that Jason smoked. She had seen how it makes people act and she did not want that to happen to Jason.

As I descended down the stairs I began thinking about Christy. Why did she just close the door on me like that and didn’t answer my question? And why was she frowning? Perhaps she was angry about the fact that I was about to go smoke. If that was why she was having an attitude problem than she would just have to suck it up and get used to it. Ever since that day that I smoked with Abdul on the tracks something happened inside of me. I was now going to smoke weed forever and I knew it, so Christy would just have to get used to it, now that she has agreed to be my wife she has to take the whole package.

Her basement actually looked pretty good; It wasn’t like Joe’s basement. It had a nice scenery to it. It had a red carpeted floor, with a wide space in the middle, though there weren’t any furniture. There was a washer and a drier right next to the bathroom. There was a light on top of the stairs and there was another one at the bottom. The one that was at the bottom illuminated the entire downstairs basement.

No furniture was in the basement, but there were a few chairs there, next to the dryer and washer. I sat down on one of the chairs, then I reached in my pocket and pulled out the dime bag and the blunt wrap, then I began to roll.

It took me about 2 minutes to finish rolling. After I rolled up I got up and picked up the plastic wrap from the blunt and the empty dime bag. I then walked to the center of the room and placed all the trash in the trashcan that was on the corner. I then reached in my pocket and pulled out my Bic lighter. I walked to where my seat was and picked up the wrapped up blunt that was on the floor, I began to look at it, I admired greatly what I had done. I then sparked it up and began to smoke.

It took me about 25 minutes to finish smoking. I was definitely up there! My head started spinning and I started thinking about my earlier experience with Violet in room 4325. “How could I be so stupid? Why did I just leave like that?” I started thinking to myself. Then I started thinking about Christy, she was now my wife!

I knew what I had to do. I slowly began to trudge up the stairs, while holding onto the wall, making sure to catch my balance and not trip and fall. As I arrived up the stairs more thoughts of Christy began to flash in my head. The demon looking figure appeared again to me, but I was not able to see the angel looking figure, nor the light. The demon looking figure was looking at me, smiling. It now had a full head of hair, its hair was all black. And there was a tag that was plastered on its chest. A paper tag. It read “John”.

I ignored him and turned the doorknob and began to trudge towards the kitchen to look for my wife. She was standing by the stove over the pot which was now boiling. Her black hair was all out, and it wasn’t straight anymore, now it was curly and wet, and she had a white towel wrapped around her waist, and that was all she had on. She must’ve just gotten out the shower.

I walked behind her quietly and gently placed my hands on her shoulders. Christy jumped and gave a quick shriek as she turned around.

“Don’t scare me like that Jason!” She said loudly.

Then she looked at me directly in the eyes.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” It sounded like she was murmuring; I couldn’t understand a word that was coming out her mouth. I reached my head over and gave her a deep kiss, putting all of my tongue in her mouth.

She was shocked. She didn’t kiss back for a few seconds. Then she began to kiss back.

After a few seconds she pulled back her head and she started to back away from me.

She looked at me as she backed away slowly.

“Jason, no! You’re high; I don’t want you like this.” She said as she continued backing up.

She was going to back up to the stove and ruin everything and make a mess, and she didn’t even realize. I had to save her! I hurriedly walked closer to her and picked her up and put her on top of my shoulder.

She began yelling and kicking her foot. “JASON! NO! PUT ME DOWN!” She said to me while screaming. I didn’t understand a word that was coming out of her mouth; only one thing was on my mind.

I kept her on my shoulder and began to head for the couch in the living room. Christy was still kicking and screaming. I arrived in the living room and then threw her on the couch. The towel that was wrapped around her waist came off a little bit, and I was able to see some of her naked body. I gave Christy a lascivious look and began to walk towards her on the couch.

John was on the couch next to Christy, he had a big smile on his face while he was starring at me, I ignored him and kept my focus on Christy.

As I approached her slowly she then grabbed one of the pillows on the couch and threw it at me.

“GET AWAY FROM ME YOU FREAK!” Christy said to me, I still could not understand a word that was coming out of her mouth, only one thing was on my mind.

I walked up to her and yanked the towel that was wrapped around her naked body. Now I could see everything. My mouth began to salivate as I stared at her naked body. I approached her slowly. I kneeled down and put my hands on her thighs, then I dived in.
