Research Paper Is
freedom wise? In many cases yes. A person should be free to pick
which color shirt he or she wants to wear to go out today without
being bounded by rules and regulations. Of course the benefits are
great, the peace of mind that one gets by knowing they are free to do
whatever they want is undoubtedly unequivocal. For thousands of years
the world has been strained by this concept of freedom. Egyptians and
Africans have been stripped of their free will and forced to work
constantly against their will, decreed by someone else’s will. Many
have been punished and evened killed by detesting and refusing to
succumb to the will of another. Thankfully in the world we live in
today slavery has been abolished world-wide and it is just a mere
thing of the past. Today, freedom is predominant world-wide and many
people are able to use their freedom to do many things. Many have
gone to school, built houses, built families, invest their time
wisely, all due to the fact that everybody is free. But is freedom
really wise? What if one makes a wrong choice and chooses poorly due
to the fact that they have freedom, then how should they be dealt
with? In many cases in the world today we have legal systems and law
enforcements to punish those who use their freedom the wrong way and
abuse their rights. But there are other free choices that one makes
that is wrong in many ways but is seen by the public eye as a
benevolent deed. The
public eye ultimately judges what is right or wrong, sometimes it’s
wrong and sometimes it’s right. It is a fact in the world we live
in today the public does not want to be around anything that is
immoral or bad. For example if a mother sees somebody smoking a
cigarette in a public park then she would tell her child to stay away
from that person for the fear of the child’s health or curiosity.
The same principle applies predominantly in the world we live in
today. There is a concept of what is right and what is wrong, and
mostly everybody tries to do what is right. The public eye does not
see all though, there are many things it is blinded to. This concept
of free public education for one. What are its benefits? More kids go
to college, many kids get a good job, and ultimately they live a
better life. Is the life they live really better though? Morality can
be a challenge for many of us (Doren 29). The struggle to do what is
right can be a challenge sometimes. In the year 2014 there were
30,035 arrests in the United States. Which means that over 30,000
people acted unlawful or immoral in the public eye and was therefore
punished by facing jail time. But what about the immoral deeds that
the public is blinded to? What happens to those people that cause
them? In all cases they walk away free without facing no punishment.
It is as if they did not even commit the deed, so because the public
does not notice the malevolent deed it thus continues to occur.
Public education in the U.S. has been occurring for hundreds of years
(Bildung.de). It has been proven to work and ultimately make the
country more suitable to reside in. Small kids start going to school
in their early years up until they have reached the end of their
teenage years, and a lot of them continue to pursue their education
and go to college or other educational institutes to learn more and
get a good job, the value of education is priceless indeed. Education
is nonetheless the key to success, in this life. What about the life
we live after we die though? Education cannot come to our aid then. There
are distinctive concepts of God in many religious ideologies. But
there are two ideas which is constant and stagnant in all religions.
That concept is that he is one, and he is righteous (Doren 9). He is
in fact superior in power and decrees all. None is like him indeed.
Most of the world knows this, yet we still go against him, why? Why
is it that we know what the right thing to do is, but yet we still
make the wrong choices? There is a stigma behind freedom of choice.
Most people believe that if everybody is free to do whatever he or
she desires then no fault will be brought upon them on the Day of
Judgment and they will be exonerated. What we don’t realize is that
even though we are free to do whatever we please, God sees all, and
he is the most righteous, and he will judge everybody fairly on the
Day of Judgment. The top two religions in the world today are
Christianity, and Islam. In both of these religions there is a common
belief of life after death, and the Day of Judgment. Both religions
indeed believe that one day this world as we know it will come to an
end, and God will judge us all fairly, based on how we acted in the
world while we had our life. The public knows this to be a fact, yet
we still act like we do not believe it and act immorally. The reason
we do this is fairly simple. We feel as if life is difficult to live,
and the only way to live a good life is by going against God and
acting immorally. In school teachers would always tell students to
plan for the future and always think about tomorrow, because life is
short and it could end at any time. Not just teachers, adults and
anybody with the proper maturity and wisdom would tell this to the
adolescence because it is indeed true and correct. One should always
plan for the future, for one day it will certainly come to an end. We
choose to put logic over religious faith because logic is how the
world works. If one stays in the sun too long they become hot and
thirsty, that is logical. If one has a headache they take Tylenol or
other pain killer medicines to alleviate the pain, that is logical.
This concept of God is not logical to us though, therefore we don’t
succumb to it. What we do is we try to make it seem like we are all
about God, even though we may act against him. The United States of
America is the most powerful country in the world, which is a fact.
In our nationwide pledge of allegiance we say “under God”, but is
that how we really act? Do we act as if we are truly under God? If we
was to truly act that way then we would submit to all of his will and
do what’s right, but yet we don’t. Yes, there are many concepts
of God but everybody in the world can agree that he in fact does
exist and everybody should submit to his wishes. But yet we don’t
teach our young ones about him and we even make it a possibility for
atheists to live in this country without being treated any different.
We say we are all for God yet we constantly disobey him and go
against his wishes, simply because we feel it’s the right thing to
do. But how does one truly know what is right or wrong to do? Is it
what makes us happy the most or what makes others happy? The answer
is we don’t know. We are all completely oblivious and ignorant in
doing what is right or wrong, we are all just going off instincts.
But how was those instincts placed on us? It couldn’t have just
been bestowed to us from the sky and out of nowhere, no, somebody or
something had to purposefully give it to us so we can be able to
distinctively choose what is right or wrong. The phrase “always
follow your heart, it’s never wrong” is constant in the world we
live in today. That phrase had to derive from somewhere. Its origins
are not unknown. Many people in the past have indeed followed their
hearts and they have realized that it was indeed the right choice to
make and they were content with their decision.
Free
public education should be regulated worldwide. All free public
education does not offer any type of religious classes (Kozol 98).
Just because religion is a touchy subject does not mean that we
should not touch upon it or just leave it alone. Some people are
still very skeptical in the idea of God existing, that is why we do
not teach our young ones about God, we fear that some people may not
agree or conform to the idea that’s being taught to their child and
in return they may rebel against it. What we fail to realize is that
by us not choosing to make a decision we are making the wrong choice.
In both the Bible and the Quran it states that God should be taught
to every individual worldwide so we all can know and understand him.
Yet we rather teach math or science to our young ones because we feel
it may help them live a better life. One may ask, “what about all
the different religions in the world, how would we know which one to
teach?” Simple, give everybody a choice. Only teach the predominant
religions in the world and each student can have an option on which
class to take based on their religious preference. Nobody in the
world knows all. One can be the smartest scholar in the world and
have many degrees and accolades, but if that person does not know
about God, then he or she knows nothing. We all have to act quickly.
Yes, there is a big fear and concern about this topic. But that fear
should not halt our progression to do what is right. We all have to
act quickly, because God is watching, and he oversees all.
