Chapter 8

The Prologue

Jason stared at his friend for a few seconds without blinking. He already knew what Wahid meant. It is a name of Allah/God which denotes His Oneness. He still wanted for Abdul to elaborate more on it.
As he looked at the blunt that he was holding, it was 85% finished. He took one more toke and then passed it to his friend. Abdul gave a quick look at it then he held his hand up.

"Kill that jawn bro." Abdul said.
He was telling his friend to just finish smoking the blunt, since it was almost done anyway. Jason took another quick hit of the blunt and then he put it out and laid it on the table next to him. He didn't want to just throw it to the side because he was in the abode of his close friend. In Islam you have to be very circumspect with your words and action. Because Allah is the All Seer. And He Knows all!

Jason then leaned forward towards Abdul and folded his hands. "Tell me more. What does "Waahid" mean?"

Abdul stared at his friend and quickly replied.

"The One!" Abdul said and held his single index finger up.

"Allah has absolutely no partners and He cannot be distributed." Said Abdul.

"But what does that mean?" Jason asked with a quizzical look on his face.

Abdul then extended his single index finger to the face of Jason. Then he held up his ring finger, then his pinky. He then dropped all of them and only held up his middle finger. Jason snickered loudly, "I'ma fuck you up DuL!" He said while laughing.

"First I had my index finger up. Then my ring, and then my pinky." Abdul said and held them all up again.

"Even though I only had one index finger up at first. But my ring and pinky were partners to my index. Does that make sense?"

     "No." Jason plainly said.

Abdul quickly started thinking of another analogy he could use.

"Ok Jason my boy. Do you like pizza?"

Jason nodded his head. "I absolutely do! My favorite flavor is spinach and cheese."

"Yo you know Dominoes gotta Oreo flavored jawn?"

Jason's eyes bulged open. "An Oreo flavored pizza! Is that even possible?"

Abdul nodded his head. "I lie to you not."

     "GET OUT!" Jason exclaimed.

Abdul paused for a second as he fell back. "No. This is my house. You get out."

Jason started to get up and leave, then he sat back down and erupted in laughter. Abdul laughed along with him.

"Okay all jokes aside though Jason my boy!" Abdul said as he clasped his hands together.

"This is a very serious matter which needs to be clarified. It is of utmost importance."

Jason stopped laughing and stared at his friend again. He nodded his head.

     "Okay. So 'Tawhid'" Abdul added.

"The Oneness of Allah Subhannahu Wa Ta'ala. This is the most important knowledge."

     "What's after that?" Jason asked.

     "Knowledge of medicine."

     "What's after that?" Jason asked.

Abdul paused for a second. "Allah Knows best."

There was a pause. They both gave each other a long stare.

Confusion still lingered in the air, Abdul could sense it. He leaned forward to Jason and held his index finger up again, then he lifted his other index finger on his left hand.

"One plus one equals two, yes?"

Jason nodded his head. "Nam!"

    "Allah plus Allah equals..."

     "Umm... Two Allahs." Jason responded.

"No Jason. That is not true."

"This question relates to the mental impossibility." Abdul added.

"Because Allah is One. And He cannot be divided, or subtracted, or added on to. We are unable to fathom His Names and Attributes because our mind is too feeble. So when the ignorant person asks you 'if God is omnipotent and He has Power to do all. Why can't he have a son?'"

"Our response is... 'Allah's Oneness does not relate to the mental impossibility'" Abdul finished and lean back.

"You will never be able to understand Jason my boy. Because like I just previously mentioned. Our minds are too feeble. What's required of the Believer is to know for certain that Allah is One. In Islam, we don't ask 'how' or 'why'. Because that will only lead you to kufr or blasphemy. May Allah protect us. Because you are going to try to imagine Allaah. You're going to keep trying and trying. Then you finally think you got it, but you do not. Allah clearly states in Ayat 11 of Surah Ash Shura what means 'The Creator/Allah does not resemble the creation in any way'. Our mind is a creation. Does that make sense?" Abdul asked his friend with a worried look on his face.

Jason didn't quite understand but he did, kinda. What was really troubling him though was not that he didn't fully understand. It was the worried look that Abdul had on his face. He could tell that this was something that Abdul really wanted to make clear to him. And it pained him seeing how hard he was trying.

Jason quickly nodded his head. "Nam nam!" He said as he forced a smile.

"Are you just saying that?" Abdul asked.

Jason shook his head. "No, no DuL! I get it, I really do!"

"Mhmm..." Abdul said as he folded his legs and laid back on the couch.

     "Explain to me."

     "Explain what?" Jason asked.

"What does Allah being One mean?" Abdul asked his friend.

Jason thought for a second. "Allah is not a cheese pizza!" Jason said and smiled.

Abdul gave a loud father and clasped his friend on his back.

     "You're gonna go far kid!"
