Chapter 2

“PULL UP YOUR PANTS BOY!” Yelled Mr. Keen, my other science teacher. Mr. Keen was yelling at Jerry, because he often tended to walk the hallways with his slim camouflage jeans on. The no dress code we had in our school definitely benefited to Jerry. Jerry was not rich, and he did not have a rich family, in fact they were fairly poor. After remembering going over to Jerry’s house and having to sleep on a mattress in Jerry’s room and barely no food in that fridge, except for hot dogs and bottles of water. Jerry always came to school in nice apparel and never dressed rowdy, though Jerry was a wild character, he never dressed like it.

“OK BRUH!” Yelled Jerry back to Mr. Keen as he walked in the classroom. We was in third period, our second and last class together. Our next period was lunch break, me and Jerry was slowly awaiting on it. Lunch time was a time of relaxation and eating junk food. Most of the kids did not fear multitudes of audience, everyone seemed to be at leisure during lunch. Mr. Keen was giving a lecture and was very monotone in his speeches, I counted that I fell asleep three times, every time that I woke up from my nap and looked at the clock only about three minutes had gone by, time was moving so slow.

Slowly but surely Mr. Keen reached the end of his lectures and class was rapidly drawing to closure.

“Make sure to read chapter 13 about stem cells, our quiz about it will be tomorrow.”

The class sighed in its entirety. Nobody in the class was going to read the chapter and study for the quiz.

“Now get out of here all of you’s, I want to dive in to the pasta mother made for me this morning.” Mr. Keen often liked to joke and say that he lives with his mother and her four cats, nobody really believed him, we just liked to act like we do for the purpose of the humor.

The lunch bell at 11:45am went off and everybody got up and began to exit out of the door.

“YOU’RE SCARED OF ME!” Yelled Darrel. “You don’t want no parts.”

“Ok yeah I’m scared of you.” I replied back to Darrel as I smirked and rolled my eyes. Darrel knew that I was one of the best rappers in the school and he was desperately trying to rap battle me. Every day at school Darrel will nag me with this question repeatedly. Darrel still couldn’t get over the fact that me and him had battled in the beginning of the school year and I embarrassed him in front of the predominance of the students in the lunch room. He desperately wanted to get a rematch with me, but I was not for it because frankly I felt Darrel was not worth my time.

“I said…” Darrel was going to rap battle me even though I told him that I didn’t it with him. I quickly jumped out my seat and moved to another table. I moved to a table where most of the girls was at, I recognized one of them from one of my periods, her name was Christy. I had developed a slight crush on her. She was mixed with African-American and puerto-rican, she was very pretty. She had long black hair, pale white skin tone, short about 4’11, and she had a thick body type. She was undoubtedly the prettiest girl in the school to me. Nobody except Jerry knew that I had a crush on her, he told me more than once that I need to go talk to her and ask her out on a date, but I was just too scared. I wasn’t really the shy type, I was a very wild and outgoing type of guy. I just sometimes got really nervous to talk to someone I had feelings for. I didn’t have no problem talking to a bunch of people that I didn’t know, because who cares what they think? I always thought. I began to think though maybe it’s time to break my jittery vibes. Today was going to be the day I introduce myself to her.
